My practice is rooted into the seams of the land I live and walk upon; contemplating what has taken place on each patch of dirt I’ve ever laid foot. I search the landscape for traces of past events in a form of archaeology. These images trace the legacy of the steelworks of Spencer and Sons of Newburn in a bid to acknowledge the reason for the existence of the village I grew up in. I view myself as an industrial archaeologist searching for what it is that makes me: questioning how the landscape informs my national, local and personal identities.
